What a treat for Halloween! This is a spectacular collection of stories that will keep you reading. Everything that is spooky, scary, and sexy is in Just Another Paranormal Halloween. Before I share my thoughts on each enticing story and talented author, I must say I love, love, love the cover of this book. The credits indicate Ookami Kasumi is the artist and I would like to say well done!

A Pixie Holiday by Brigit Aine

I loved Kira. I want to be her and a Pixie! Brigit Aine has created an utterly feminine and adorable character. The passages are descriptive. The village and interactions come to life on the pages. The attraction between Kira and Lance is palpable and Ms. Aine has done a good job bringing the reader into their attraction. I did notice a mingling between Kira and Lance’s POV’s. As a fan of multiple POV’s I thought Ms. Aine handled the various viewpoints well in this story. A Pixie Holiday is such a sweet read, I would spend another afternoon with a Brigit Aine book.

Darkest Night by Ashley Blade

Darkest Night pulled me right in and kept me in a state of anticipation. The intrigue of this vampire story is perfectly paced. The characters are well written and the dialogue realistic. Their descriptions brought them to life for me. I truly enjoyed the balance between sexy and suspense. Ashley Blade created a story that kept me reading to see what was going to happen. Ms. Blade is a highly skilled story teller. Darkest Night is a book I would read more than once, even more than twice.

The Man in the Long Black Coat by Susan Gabriel

The Man in the Long Black Coat was deliciously full of superstitions right from the start. Susan Gabriel crafted an excellent transition of Mariah evolving into a woman. I stayed drawn to the story by the tantalizing hooks. Let me say, squirrel turd is now a new favorite comparison phrase for me. You’ll have to read the book to find out why but I think you’ll giggle too. Ms. Gabriel brought out breathtaking sensuality with a unique plot style that I would read again. I love being able to know what others are thinking and Ms. Gabriel certainly provided a unique way of giving us that. I enjoyed The Man in the Long Black Coat very much.

Samhain’sVisitors by Kiki Howell

Samhain’s Visitors was a suspenseful book brimming with spirits and rituals. Kiki Howell gave wonderful descriptions and details to animate the scenes. The romance portion of the plot wasn't overly expansive however when it did arrive, the results were enticing. Ms. Howell gave us some brief descriptions of the couples journey but the culmination of the relationship for the happily ever after was exciting. For a well-written suspense book with some romance flavor that gives you great spook, Samhain’s Visitors hits the spot.

TheTiger’s Masquerade by Savanna Kougar

Let me just say ‘Mygawd’ The Tiger’s Masquerade is one sexy hot read! Zyrru is a spectacular example of masculinity. All the best elements of a book were combined into one stimulating story. Gorgeous tigers, sensuality and a masquerade, you couldn’t ask for more. Savanna Kougar kept me glued to the pages and I couldn’t turn them fast enough. Ms. Kougar provides a wonderful and perfectly written book that every reader will love. The Tiger’s Masquerade and Savanna Kougar are must read in my opinion.

A-MazingGrace by D. McEntire

A-Mazing Grace is a page turner…if you dare! D. McEntire has the gift of suspense and I was captivated. I was caught between turning the next page and being afraid to. D. McEntire provides a thrilling vampire read that is so descriptive that I actually had a physical reaction. Goose bumps chilled up my arms and I noticed my breathing quickened. I even caught myself squinting almost afraid to read what came next. And, the attraction between the hero and heroine, oh my oh my, is all I can say. You have to read this one!

Love,Lies and Zombie Cries by K. A. M’Lady

I’ll admit, I’m not usually a lover of first person and I’ll tell you why, it’s a difficult execution unless the author is very accomplished. Let me say straight out, K. A. M’Lady is such a graceful writer, I became the character. I love when that happens. K. A. M’Lady is truly a master of the written word. The story itself is tremendous. Sexy, tender, and full of anticipation. There is a luscious rhythm to the story that moved me along and drew me further in. If you aren’t reading Love, Lies and Zombie Cries already, then get a copy right now!

HisGirl by Sapphire Phelan

His Girl is a plethora of all the perfect ingredients for a great story. Vampires, suspicion, erotic sex, lost love, rekindled love, and Halloween. Sapphire Phelan touches the reader’s emotions with her details and descriptions. His Girl brings forth the secret fantasy some readers have that our true love still is waiting for us. While providing a warm romance, Ms. Phelan also gives spectacular spook! Wonderful story and a great writer. I now consider myself a Sapphire Phelan fan and once you read His Girl, you will also.

Review of Ramshackle Castle by K.A. M’Lady

Ramshackle Castle is a collection of bent, altered and otherwise skewed verses and poems. K.A. M’Lady’s works take on a range of emotion, from comical, morose, sad, and dramatic. Admittedly, I was a bit daunted by the task of reviewing a book of “bent” and “altered” verses. It isn’t every day that you sit down to read such pieces, but after delving in, I was, first and foremost, relieved that I knew the inspiration of many of the verses and poems! I’ll admit, I felt a bit intelligent for this fact alone. Secondly, I loved reading the twisted, melancholy, and oft times humorous, words of K.A. M’Lady. What an adventure!

Let’s start by saying, she’s paid homage to the likes of Frost and Poe, and that bodes well for her in my opinion! I grew up reading both, and to see their works twisted was entertaining to be certain. One of my favorite poems was a rendition of Robert Frost’s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. I have very vivid memories of singing a madrigal piece set to this Frost poem. As I was reading M’Lady’s version, Another Dumb Ass Lost in the Snow, I was rolling in laughter. All I could think of was this somber and moody musical piece set to M’Lady’s comical rendition of Frost’s words. She had me at “Thank God my car has not a brain.”

M’Lady is quite obviously gifted in verse and poetry, and for that, my hat’s off to her. She has taken an interesting approach to the collection, and it is very much worth the read. There is such a broad range of poems and writings in Ramshackle Castle that you are sure to find something that will bring a tear to your eye or a laugh to your day.

I can’t wait to read more from K.A. M’Lady.

The Story Behind the Book: The Anatomy of Faith by K.A. M'Lady

When Romance Reviews Submitted by Authors asked me to write an article describing the background history of where the ideas for my Faith Savage Demon Huntress Series came from, of course I wholeheartedly agreed.  Then, after giving it some serious thought I wondered ‘How does an author go about the business of writing such a summary when the feelings involved this series are deeper, darker and more personal than just an idea? 

Really, one might think it a simple task for an author.  Just pull out the outline, throw together the main idea, the historical references you researched, add a list of items on how you wanted your characters look, the attitude you wanted them to portray.  Then, set-up the scenery, the landscape, and reference what made you pick the location – even if you made it up.  Tell your readers what city, town or by-way you chose to be your locale.

But what do you share when the scope of your story is a bit more personal?  What do you describe when most of it is a matter of faith?

Authors often interweave bits and pieces of our hopes, dreams, fears and personal beliefs into our stories.  We make our characters live out our fantasies, become our super-heroes, and fight the demons that have skulked around in the far, dark reaches of our minds.  For me, to an extent, this became Faith Savage.

Expanded from a previous release I chose to write beyond my original idea of a woman being tempted by an angel and a demon.  The central idea to expand this story was mainly prompted from my own personal demons and travels with the darkness in my own life.  I wondered what a character would do if God had given them a job to cast out the darkness from the world.  To provide a message to mankind.  And, how would the external factors from her personal upbringing factor into her story?  Could those dark days be blamed on the devil?  Would her faith in God and herself be strong enough to see her through?

Personally, I have survived much in my short life:  child abuse, homelessness, joblessness, alcoholism, and drug addiction.  Like most, there are multiple demons that haunt me and many dark days that I have survived.  But the point is – I survived.  I would like to think that it was for a greater purpose.  That God has a master plan for me to affect someone else’s life.  Whether it is through my stories, my poetry or the simple act of giving back the proceeds I make to a charity of my choosing.  As writers we are gifted with this opportunity. 

As a person I don’t much care either way what my friends and readers choose to believe in.  What they choose to call their God.  I have friends of every walk of life and of every faith:  Christian, Muslim, Jehovah Witness, Catholic, Pagan, and non-believers.  The one thing I’ve noticed in all of them is that at the core of them I’ve found what it is that drew me to them as a person and what makes their light shine within them.  And that light is love.

So, whether your characters are fighting dragons, slaying ogres or fighting the darkness and demons that are within there is always something that keeps us returning to their story.  Something that keeps us searching for their happily-ever-after, as well as our own.  Is it the hope that the light will conquer the darkness?  That love for ourselves and each other will be strong enough to win?  Quite possibly it’s all just a matter of faith.

Review of Faith Savage Book Three: Transgressions by K.A. M’Lady

Transgressions by K.A. M’Lady stirred an emotional tug-of-war. I wanted to read the unfolding intimate scene between Salvitor and Faith. At the same time, I crossed a few virtual fingers in hopes our heroine would rise up from hell and beat the ever loving “demon goo” out of the supernatural badass.

In the end, Faith Savage didn’t disappoint. She needed a miracle, but what she ultimately found was a God-send, a man from her recent past with trickery of his own to help Faith escape the confines of hell. He also offered insight about the time she’d spent with Salvitor.  Perception is everything and the way Salvitor skillfully deceived Faith made for an interesting plot twist.

A strong female lead is like any strong independent woman. She can overcome obstacles with the right amount of determination behind her. Still, even willful individuals have difficulty ignoring the temptations before them. This story demonstrates a struggle between two supernatural forces. Faith relies on her inner strength to carry her through a hardship, but temporarily fails while the author spins a tale that is most definitely another huge success.

Book Three: Transgressions is another Faith Savage installment. I’m fully invested in this series and won't stop reading until the end is reached.
